Want to know what's in for brows in 2023 and 2024? Merryn Calear from Always Elegant Lash and Brow Beauty in Sydney, shares her professional knowledge on what you could be offering your clients.
-
Thick and Full Brows: In the last few years, there has been a shift towards embracing naturally thick and full eyebrows. This trend encourages people to let their brows grow out and only shape them slightly to enhance their natural appearance. For these clients they are after balanced, even brows with soft, natural edges. These clients often prefer to be makeup free or the no makeup makeup look. Create the look with a brow tint, soft brow edges and no or minimal trimming. For sparse brows, you could recommend a PMU soft powder brow.
-
Feathered Brows: Feathered brows are on the up trend and we have not reached peak feather brows yet. The focus is on creating a soft, natural and feathery look. Create this look with a brow lamination or PMU nano brows. If you are not offering brow laminations as part of your menu, I strongly advise that you do. This is an easy treatment to provide and can be done concurrently with a Lash Lift as a package, providing great value to your client and to your bottom line. There are a range of aftercare products you can retail to your clients to help them maintain their brow lamination such as the Elleebana Elleeplex After Care or Mayamy Brow Soap for Brow Styling.
-
Thinner Brows: Inspired by models like Bella Hadid, are a high angled brow and are a thinner brow. These are not pen-thin 90's brows. This is an elegant style which can elevate the eye area. A thinner brow can create an older look on younger clients so proceed cautiously with this demographic. Map the brows and get your client to check and approve before proceeding because it can be a dramatic change.
-
Bold and Defined Brows: This trend emphasises a more dramatic and sculpted look. Create the look with clean sharp brow lines, trimming if possible and a hybrid tint or henna brow for a skin stain. A powder brow tattoo can also help emphasise the finished look. Clients' aftercare could include using brow products like pencils, powders, or pomades to create well-defined, filled-in brows with clean, sharp edges.
-
Straight Brows: Straight brows were popularised by Korean beauty trends. This style involves shaping the brows to be straighter across the brow bone, giving a youthful and innocent look. Create the look by removing the bottom few hairs on each tail on more angled brows and the top few hairs on the arches.
-
Ombre Brows: Ombre brows involve using a lighter colour at the front of the brow, gradually transitioning to a darker shade at the tail. This technique creates a soft gradient effect and adds depth to the brows. Create the look by removing the brow tint, henna or hybrid dye at the brow bulbs a couple of minutes prior to the end of the processing time. Ombreing brows is also a great way to soften a much darker tint without loosing the efficacy of removing it too early.
Remember that beauty trends are subjective and personal preferences vary. It's essential to choose a brow style that suits your client's face shape and enhances their natural features and that most importantly, makes them feel confident and good about themselves. Also think about their brows long-term. Repeated shaping over time may cause a permanent shape, so think about what this may mean for your client years later. Always provide a consultation for your client. If you are making a radical changed for them, map and get them to check the design before going ahead.
